Next Steps

(I tell you how things gotta be and things you’d better settle down and get used to, lest you be dealt something worse.)

All the specialists agree: Re-opening the country –even on an Terror-Level: Orange — on May 1st is an overly optimistic step.

We still need to improve testing procedures. We still need to solidify tracking procedures. We still need to get everyone into the system so we can have valid, useful information to battle both this and future attacks.

Instead, citizens who have never seen this illness firsthand are pushing for the gates of “FREEDOM” like a herd sprinting for a cliff. And it looks like they may get what they want.

This means there will be a wave of new infections. There will be death. Then these people will come crying that they need help. And doctors will help them because that’s what they’ve sworn to do. But it’s time to start making the moves that ensure that everyone who is doing everything right gets treated first.

Is that you?

Here’s a checklist everyone should be getting 100% on:

  • Wear a mask in public
  • Wash & sanitize your hands
  • Cough & sneeze into your elbow
  • Stay 6 feet away from anyone who doesn’t live with you
  • Sanitize surfaces before and after use
  • Do not shake hands
  • Stay connected and hold social events (from casual parties to weddings and funerals) online, whenever possible
  • Only leave the house if it is mandatory
  • Stay out of the sun
  • Avoided beaches, hiking trails, parks, and any public outdoor activity
  • Get current on all vaccinations
  • Input your Direct Deposit information at USA.gov

These are the first steps to staying safe and tracking illness when it does spread. It ensures you are not a danger to medical professionals and can be seen quickly if you are infected. It also means you are first in line to receive reimbursements issued to you by the federal government and who doesn’t need that?

More steps will come later that will make things much more safe and secure than they are right now. But, like everything, they will take a little time.

For now, just make sure you are where you need to be, doing what you need to do. If so, the system will take care of you.

And you and your family deserve that peace of mind.

OMG. Social media has been on 🔥 today!

SO much to keep up with. We are still not outside the Bell curve specialists say we should stay within to not create a second wave of sickness AND MY CITY IS OPENING UP!!!

Can you believe the insanity of it all? Will everything we’ve done up until now be for naught???

Several businesses are opening up, but most of my friends are staying smart by staying home. #staysafestayhome

I hear gyms are opening up to appointments only, and I’ll confess I did drive around downtown to see how businesses are complying with mandate.

An ice cream 🍨 store was open, and there wasn’t a mask to be seen. 😡😷

All the book stores are closed📚😞 (which is bittersweet) and restaurants seemed to still be take-out only. #asformeandmyhousewewillordertakeout #stimulatetheeconomy

One restaurant was unabashedly open, with tables 8 feet apart 👏👏, but it was empty when I passed by, saved for the skeleton crew onhand who can no longer claim unemployment.

I also passed by a cell phone store with windows facing the street and there were two men inside: an employee and a customer. Neither had masks on and they were NOT maintaining a social distance. 😨😨🚑⚕🩺💉💊🏥

If a second wave of this flu is on its way, WE’RE SCREWED!

For now, we wait to see if we have truly eluded doom with the HURCULEAN 💪🥇 efforts we’ve been taking for the past 6 weeks, or if death still waits for us like a hungry cat patiently coiled around the corner.
